The Virginia Haiti Collaborative (VHC) is a group of 6 Episcopal churches and Stuart Hall School in Staunton which support a school, St. Marc’s, in Cerca La Source, Haiti. Trinity has been a member of the VHC since 2014. The VHC raised the funds and built a school in 2010. It currently has 600 students. The VHC pays the teacher’s salaries and provides lunch daily for the students and teachers. Trinity, through our various events and missions, had funded a teacher training program for 5 years. The majority of teacher’s in Haiti are not college educated; however, with Trinity’s help, they are taught how children learn and how to manage a classroom.
Boys Home, located in Covington, Virginia, is an institution associated with the Diocese of Southwestern Virginia. This independent, residential education facility established to guide school-aged boys from challenging circumstances toward developing their full potential and becoming self-reliant, responsible, and productive men. Trinity has been supporting the boys for many years. This involves sending gifts to the boys at Christmas, inviting them to attend church and church events and responding to “wish lists” from time to time.
Justin A. Samuels Memorial Foundation was set up in 2020 after the tragic passing of Justin Andrew Samuels, a U.S. Army Veteran, General Contractor and member of Clifford Baptist Church in Amherst, VA. The Foundation raises money to help families in our community at Christmastime. They also provide scholarship money to seniors at Amherst County High School who plan to pursue a trade after graduation.
